My name is Hilary, and I am the creator, cook, and voice behind For the Love of Basil. I am inspired by flavorful, colorful, and healthy foods. Sometimes my husband Ryan helps me in the kitchen (often with the dishes, occasionally with the grill) and he is my biggest fan, because he loves being the taste tester!
I started For the Love of Basil because good food makes me happy. It’s that simple. I enjoy creating new recipes in my kitchen, but I also love taking great recipes and adjusting them to fit my dietary needs. To me good food means it tastes great and is good for my body, too. I am all about cooking healthy for a long life. On top of trying to eat healthy, I have to balance my food intolerances. I am lactose intolerant, gluten sensitive, and I feel better when I limit my sugar. Avoiding gluten really is not that hard, as I will show you in my blog, but dairy is my weakness. There is nothing like a good goat cheese! I don’t eat dairy on a daily basis, but when I do eat it, it’s going to be worth it!
