In January we spent a long weekend exploring Miami and eating our weight in Cuban food. When Saturday morning came around, we decided it was time to grab some delicious and nutritious. As a lover of food, trying new restaurants is a hobby and is the highlight of exploring new cities. I always do my research ahead of time to make sure my travels are full of palatable food.
Dirt has a catchy name, no doubt about it.
Especially for a healthy conscious eatery. So, it’s Dirt, but you eat Clean?
Then I saw the menu and knew I had to go. Dirt’s menu includes local, sustainable, and healthy ingredients that are masterfully prepared to bring out the beauty of their natural flavors. From home pressed juices and smoothies to quinoa crusted salmon and curry cauliflower bowls, Dirt knows how to speak to foodies and anyone who likes to eat healthy without compromising great flavor (#fitfoodie). A major bonus is that every item on the menu displays the calorie counts and labels the dishes that meet different dietary restrictions (I love restaurant like this since I’m lactose intolerant and gluten sensitive).
Since I was craving some healthy cleaning eating I chose their delicious “Glow” green smoothie and the “Clean Bowl”: scrambled egg whites, sauteed spinach and kale, sweet potato, avocado, turkey bacon, topped with salsa verde. Ryan, who always goes for anything spicy, got one of their house cold pressed juices and the “Jalisco Bowl”: Quinoa, caramelized onions, roasted tomatoes, red peppers, scrambled eggs, salsa verde, and chile d’arbol hot sauce. Both dishes were seriously delicious, and I was thankful that Ryan and I always share when we go out to eat.
The best part of the meal: the most amazing brownie I’ve ever eaten. If only I could remember what it was called… I just know the brownie was Vegan or something and was remarkable. I took my time to enjoy every bite!
The brownie alone has we wishing Dirt would open a location in Salt Lake City (my fingers are still crossed).Dirt was honestly one of the healthiest meals I’ve had while eating out. It made for a great start to our Saturday exploring South Beach. We got our workout in by renting bikes are exploring the path along the beach. As if the view of the warmth and views of the ocean in January weren’t enough to make a gal happy, there happened to be a dachshund dog festival going on so I was in heaven surrounded by thousands of puppies!
